Ask what makes the next stage ready
For each stage, identify the person responsible, the information needed and what could prevent it starting. That turns a list of dates into a programme you can discuss. Some tasks may overlap, while others depend on completed design, approvals, delivery or inspections. Confirm the sequence for your project instead of borrowing another home’s timeline.

Keep a short decision register
- Write each decision, its owner and the date it is needed.
- Record product lead times as confirmed by the supplier.
- Agree how programme changes will be communicated.
- List household events that may affect access.
- Review the effect of a change before approving it.
A late selection can affect more than delivery
Changing a shower after room preparation may affect dimensions, plumbing positions or the finishing sequence. Ask the team which tasks depend on the original selection. Agree both the work and programme implications before assuming the change can slot into the same dates.
When should I book temporary accommodation?
Discuss the expected period away and how certain the programme is before making commitments. Ask which milestones could change the dates and what notice can be given. Keep the household plan under review as approvals, procurement and site information become clearer.
