Test the room in use, not only on a drawing
Measure the existing room and note doors, windows and fixtures. Add the dimensions of any proposed products from their technical information. Then consider the space used by an open drawer, shower door or cabinet. A layout that looks tidy on paper can still be awkward when several actions happen in the same area.
Compare layout approaches

Walk through your proposed bathroom
- Open the entry door and each storage door on the plan.
- Allow for the person using a basin or drying after a shower.
- Place towels and toiletries where they are actually needed.
- Consider cleaning access beside and behind fittings.
- Raise any present or future mobility needs with the designer.
A shallower vanity is a trade-off
A smaller vanity may free up a route but reduce storage or usable basin space. List what must be stored, then check a real product’s dimensions and internal layout. Do not choose it solely because the floor plan shows more empty space.
Is there one minimum room size that works?
There is no single room-size answer for every household and layout. Fixture specifications, access needs and the proposed building work matter. Have the actual arrangement assessed rather than treating a layout diagram found online as an approved design for your home.
