Turn “more space” into a useful brief
Write a short list of the problems the extension needs to solve. A second living area, an extra bedroom and a larger kitchen each affect circulation differently. Consider the rooms already there as well as the new footprint, so the addition does not leave an awkward passage or a room with a weaker connection to the rest of the home.

Bring to the first conversation
- The address and a simple sketch of the existing layout.
- Photos showing the possible addition and surrounding ground.
- A prioritised room list, including what could remain unchanged.
- Any plans or approvals already commissioned.
- An honest indication of the budget and timing you want to discuss.
Trace the route through the finished house
If an extra bedroom can only be reached through another bedroom, the addition may not solve the household’s needs. Trace arrival, bedtime and bathroom routes on a simple plan before becoming attached to a footprint. Bring the awkward points into the design discussion.
Do I need completed plans before getting in touch?
No. The existing Fix All enquiry route asks what stage your plans and approvals have reached, including when none are prepared. Explain your current position. Early conversation can identify the information needed next, without treating an initial idea as an approved or priced design.
